Project Consultant/Assistant


 


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


The Project Consultant is responsible for assisting and providing project support and assistance to any assigned Project Lead in order to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency with regards to the delivery of project-based work. The position will involve traveling outside Gauteng and a car will be provided where flights are not a viable option. You must be able to speak English, Afrikaans and one other South African language to fulfil this role.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Project Management Duties


• Perform administrative support


• Schedule meetings & workshops on request.


• Consolidate information for project meetings


• Track performance of consultants / independent contractors/ sub-contractor(s).


• Administer the project or sub-contractor budgets(s).


• May be required to travel to project sites(s) as and when needed.


2. Project Plans & Reporting


• Maintain and integrate project plans, i.e. ensure correct version control, document access and


document circulation.


• Together with the Project lead, identify and map project information needs.


• Together with Project Lead, define requirements for reporting and interfacing.


• Track & report overall progress.


• Report on project issues or queries and be pro-active in resolution of same.


• Ensure that there are clear communication paths


• Distribute status & progress reports


• Conduct a high-level risk analysis of client’s commitments.


3. Economic Development Reporting


• Work with the Reporting Team to ensure the completion of project deliverables.


• Manage accurate & timeous data collection, compilation, analysis and verification thereof.


• Perform analytical reviews of the project data in order to assess reasonableness of the information and whether the data submitted by the client meets the legislative compliance requirements and criteria.


• Calculations of the economic development elements in order to complete the economic


development scorecard for renewable energy and other project bid submissions purposes.


• Review and quality check all work prior to submission to the relevant project lead.


• Conduct review of evidentiary documentation supplied.


• Select samples for further evidence (where applicable).


• Analyse documentary evidence for compliance with B-BBEE requirements.


• Conduct all the above in terms of legislated procedures and internal corporate procedures.


4. Social Labour Plans


• Analysis and research.


• Drafting of Social and Labour Plan (SLP).


• Identification of Service Providers.


• Facilitation of obtaining signatures to the SLP’s.


• Site Visits.


• Client Meetings.


5. Documentation Management


• Manage project documentation system(s) of all Company documents


• Collation of client reports.


• Ensure accuracy in letters, memos, reports and meetings


 


6. Required qualifications and experience


• BComm Degree / Environmental & Social Development Degree / Relevant Qualification


• Matric with Business Economics as subject


• Computer Literate – MS Office


• Experience in MS Excel Advanced


• Preference will be given to someone who has experience in Economic Development, Renewable


Energy sector, Mining and SLP work


 


7. Additional skills (Behavioural)


• Must be honest, hardworking and be willing to take responsibility for their work and contribute to the company culture and growth


• The candidate must be willing to travel and be comfortable travelling to rural and impoverished


areas.


8. Additional skills and knowledge (technical)


• Analytical thinker


• Detail oriented


• Able to work under time pressure


• Language – Excellent speaking and writing of English and Afrikaans, as well as 1 other South


African language


• Must have a valid driver’s license


• Team player
